The little guys are new in my Etsy store. Hope you like them.
August Break 2011- So this is it! August is gone. It was a great month, lots of things going on, lots of work, play and everything in between.
I leave you with this process shot from the studio: a ring I made a while back and really like, and one I haven’t finished yet (using my sister’s glass cabs).
I think I’ll keep this style of posting in the days and weeks to come, it was a great great posting exercise, and it showed me how many images I have stored in my hard drive waiting to be seen by somebody.
On to September, bring it on!
August Break 2011- I need to make a ring like the one on the right (this one belongs to Nati) for a custom order, and I haven’t ever made one before! I should really know how to do these already but I guess I skipped that lesson. So I’m procrastinating a little… I’ll finish it this week though. Posting a picture here should be motivation enough!
August Break 2011- So August is coming to an end. Quick, huh? Have you been enjoying these daily pictures? I have to say I have enjoyed the exercise, since most of the time I get sidetracked and neglect this blog. With the August Break I realized that what I post doesn’t necessarily have to be a very complicated post every time, and images from daily life as a jeweler are great even without a big text to go with them. My initial goal here was to show the world wide web what I was doing, and I have been fine-tuning that for some time, seeing what worked for me.
My friend Natalia also took on the challenge. Go to her blog if you want to see some more inside scoop pictures from a jeweler.

Have a good week!
Finally! I’m slowly getting back into the groove of things. I moved home over a month ago and it’s taken me a while to get my bearings and settle in. I’m happy to be back at the school, working side by side with Jordi, Nati, Gabi, Julieta, and all the students.
The photo on the left is a little preview of some new rings by Groc, and they’ll be listed on Etsy in the next few days. The other ring pics are mine, some stuff I’ve been making just because. And my other venture is on the bottom right: mushrooms (I’ll explain later).
Went to the platers yesterday and got a whole bunch of things ready to upload to the store. Sooo finally, here are these rings that I am very excited about. They are simple but have a great visual texture, which makes them cool pieces to wear by themselves or combined with other textures and colors. Hope you like them!
Sometimes I want to forget all the ‘to-do list’ items and just make something new and unique. One of a kind pieces let you explore techniques you may not use all the time (especially if you make production pieces), and you can go through the stash of stones you have amassed over several years and pick the one that most inspires you. For this project I picked a big oval Moonstone and a small bright violetish-blue Kyanite. I made the ring thinking about this necklace and pendant below and their irregular forms.
I set the stones with brass so I could get the yellow on white contrast I like so much. And here’s the ring:
